Finalist for prestigious 'Restaurant of the Year' award
Eric’s restaurant in Lindley is in the running for the coveted ‘Restaurant of the Year’ title at the White Rose Awards. Organised by Welcome to Yorkshire, the awards are the UK’s largest celebration of tourism, including the best Yorkshire attractions, hotels, B&Bs, restaurants and pubs.
Eric’s made the final following an assessment by an independent judging panel, chaired by Colin Mellors, Pro-Vice Chancellor of York University, and including the food writer Elaine Lemm. The winner will be decided following mystery visits, which are taking place over the next six weeks.
Owner and chef, Eric Paxman said: “We’re honoured to be recognised alongside some of the top restaurants from across Yorkshire. We’re approaching our fifth year, so being able to look back and say we made the final of these prestigious awards, alongside our other accolades, is a great achievement and testament to the hard work of the whole team at Eric’s.”
Colin Mellor, Chair of the White Rose Award Judges, added: “Every year, the field of entries seems to get stronger and stronger and this year’s awards are certainly no exception.
“We’ve had a record number of entries, almost a third of which are first time entrants, which is a real testament to the growing tourism offering in Yorkshire.”
More than a 1,000 people are expected to come together to celebrate the awards at a ceremony, which will be held in the autumn this year.
