'Masters at Work' - Yorkshire Post Review
We've just had another amazing review by the Yorkshire Post (published in the Yorkshire Post Magazine 5th Oct 2013. Read the full review here.)
On a return visit by food writer Amanda Wragg, she entitles her review 'Masters at Work'. It was a particularly busy summer's evening in the restaurant and we were having a 'Summer Signature Night', so the review was of our 6-course signature tasting menu. The second course, was roast rump of local Texel lamb with salt-baked beetroot, asparagus, dauphinoise, capers & parsley. Amanda writes:
"Sublimely tender, pink meat with crisp on the edge from Bolster Moor... The meat melts at the fork and I want to eat it all over again. There's a lot of cooking here, all technically impeccable."
Of the service Amanda comments:
"Keeping service sweet is restaurant manager Sam Tyrell who glides around dispensing charm and information - what he doesn't know about the food you could write on the back of a hand-made wafer... It really is a consummate experience."
She goes on to conclude:
"The lengths Eric goes to deliver the best experience is laudable. It shows he cares deeply... This is smart, modern, throughtful food made with love. Not for nothing has Eric's been awarded the Good Food Guide's Reader's Restaurant of the Year for the North East."
